What we have been working on recently:

Be sure to check out the ongoing work at 'The Askew Building' below.

Some bad stucco requiring deck replacement, Shoreview, MN

Working with Steve Donnally we uncovered very nasty water dammage under the stucco which required us to remove a deck, peal the stucco awsay and replace sheathing and rotted rim joist. After attaching a new deck ledger, Steve will flash it properly, repair the stucco and we can then rtebuild the deck. Then everything will be as it should hav e been.

Deck Replacement, Minneapolis, MN

Working for a friend is especially challenging as you want to do things particularly perfect. The roof under this deck was leaking and so the deck needed to come up and a new roof and a new deck installed. We're working with a combination of Cedar, treated, copper and composite decking.

House Remodel, Eden Prairie, MN

Making two bedrooms into a master bedroom and bath, rebuilding exterior walls for new windows including a 9' bay, new countertops in the kitchen and baths, adapting kitchen cabinets, all new appliances, a new hardwood floor in kitchen and bath and replacing a very spongy and dangerous deck and all done for very exacting and demanding customers. This is the kind of detail and scheduling we excel at. And it all happened exactly on schedule in spite of numerous changes and additions requested by the client. Six weeks in and out.

Music Room, Golden Valley, MN

Tessa and I worked with Adom at Kruger Woodworks for months before we finally came up with the design for this music room. Oak floor, bamboo tops, lots of glass, chemically stained ash with Cherry trim and accents.

Credenza, Minneapolis, MN

Just another excuse to play in my new workshop. This one is for a lovely lady who loves to still play her vinyl.

Cabinetry Adaptation, Vadnes Heights, MN

Thankfully, TV sets keep changing shape and size. This customer, with a beautiful home and detailed built-in's, needed his cabinetry modified to accept a larger video streaming device. The trick was matching the routed edges and, of course, making it fit exactly. They also had a counter with a built-in planter which they did not want. So we fixed it all.

Bathroom Remodel, Mpls

Taking out a hall linen closet and adding the space to a small bathroom made all the difference in feel and room. Adding a roof window to the canted ceiling will also bring in air and natural light.  When we opened up the ceiling we found wet insulation and a dripping roof deck from vapor  and heat leakage. Better insulation, a tight vapor barrier and additional roof vents should alleviate the problem.

Warehouse Remodel: "Worldwide" NTT    Mpls. MN

Finally our own project. Tessa and I picked up a dilapidated 3,500 sq ft. industrial building near IMS and have great plans to gut and rebuild into a contractors office (future home of Sawdust Memories) and six office suites. Stay tuned to see the 6-mo. (or more) project.

New Home of Sawdust Memories

Renovating this 800 sq. foot garage at 226 North Colfax has been a labor of love. Previously used as a shop for automobile scrappers it was nasty. Slowly it is becoming a secure, clean useable workshop for our future projects.
